Bettmeralp, cable car mountain station

Destinationpoint

Bettmerhorn

Pleasure hiking with a challenging climb at the end. Stamina is required in the last meters. Surefootedness is also necessary. But the panoramic view from the Bettmerhorn summit is worth it.

From the mountain station of the cable car Bettmeralp, you first walk east through Bettmeralp and then up to Bettmersee. On the east side of the idyllic mountain lake begins the beautifully laid-out hiking trail. It leads you via Schönbiel and Hohbalm in about 2 hours walking time up to the mountain station Bettmerhorn. From here you tackle the approximately 30-minute climb to the summit of Bettmerhorn. The trail over the south flank branches off directly in front of the mountain restaurant; it requires some stamina, but above all surefootedness! It is, however, well secured with wire ropes and partly wooden stairs. Once you reach the summit of the Bettmerhorn, you should extensively enjoy the breathtaking panoramic view of the Great Aletsch Glacier and the four-thousanders of Valais before you start your descent. This leads back down the same route to the mountain station. From there you take the gondola down to Bettmeralp.
